A screen printed poster promoting a lecture at university by silkscreen artist Kate Gibb.The text ‘COME WITH US’ is a reference to Gibb’s iconic artwork for the Chemical Brothers; the title of a track from the album Chemical Four. The image of the seagulls was taken on a wet day in Weston Super Mare. Due to the miserable weather conditions, I was forced to shoot all of the images from inside of my car; attracting the seagulls with some stodgy chips.
The concept of the poster was to move away from a simple pastiche of Gibb’s work, whilst still referencing her inspiring work in a more subtle way.
The poster was screen-printed directly onto two doors and one wall in university, much to the annoyance of the canteen staff. The posters printed on the doors are still visible, however the image printed on the wall was quickly and shoddily painted over.
